Recovery Learning Collaborative

Every now and then I have the privilege of experiencing how my work is helping people.  Today was one of those days and I have a BIG smile on my face.  I feel renewed in my work!

Today I gave a keynote address at the 2cnd Recovery Learning Collaborative Meeting in Harrisburg PA.  For the past year, 49 agencies across 35 counties in Pennsylvania have participted in our regional learning collaboratives.  During the year, each agency worked to implement the Personal Medicine Toolkit in their organization.  As a result of the work in our learning collaborative, thousands of mental health service users across the state - in medication clinics, peer centers, rehabilitation programs, day programs and residential housing - have identified their Personal Medicine and are using it as part of their recovery.  Doctors, therapists, peer staff and case managers in these agencies are routinely helping people create Personal Medicine and are distributing Personal Medicine Cards to support people's recovery. Personal Medicine helps staff and clients recognize that those of us with diagnoses are not the problem, we are part of the solution!

Community Care Behavioral Health has been sponsoring the Recovery Learning Collaboratives in PA.  They are a not-for-profit managed care company in Pennsylvania. Community Care not only talks-the-talk of recovery, they walk-the-walk by putting time, money and staff resources into making recovery oriented tools available to their members.
